Compassion During COVID Series – Session 3. Presented by Marva Ferguson and Christina Tortorelli. June 11, 10:30 – 11:00 on Zoom. https://zoom.us/j/96792408825.
What is the role of compassion in a teaching and learning institution? Leading with compassion requires reflection, drive (passion), listening, caring, and collaboration. As the COVID 19 pandemic contributed to the closure of the university on March 13, courses were transferred to virtual learning in a very short time. Several meetings, collaboration, and quick thinking ensued. The action of faculty and staff contributed to creative responses and actions to support students. The response to the crisis begs the question of what are the leadership styles of individuals and begin to create an understanding of leadership qualities that are required during this global pandemic and the future.
