The following policies are open for member comment in accordance with MRFA Policy Development Process. Comments may be submitted via the Bylaw and Policy Amendment Comment Form

Draft Policy Amendments – Open for Consultation until November 6, 2026

• Awards Policy: The policy formalizes the current practice that the Awards Committee shall support colleagues in the development and submission of nomination packages to CAFA and CAUT.  
• Gift and Recognition Policy: The policy was renamed to reflect that it covers both gifts received by staff and board members, as well as tokens of recognition provided by the Association. For members receiving tenure, promotion, and permanence, gifts will now only be distributed after recipients are asked if they want to receive them. This addition ensures fiscal responsibility and respects members’ preferences.  
• Bereavement Policy: The maximum amount for a memorial or floral tribute has been decreased to $75. This reduction reflects current practice and is mindful of fiscal restraint while still ensuring meaningful recognition.  

Members may also submit policy proposals to the MRFA’s Bylaws and Governance Committee for consideration. Policy proposals may be submitted via this form.
