Get Involved: Launch or Join a Member Directed Group!

At the heart of our faculty community is collaboration, innovation, and peer-led support. Member Directed Groups embody this spirit—each group is initiated, shaped, and fueled by faculty members themselves. Whether you’re passionate about exploring the ethical dimensions of AI, advancing inclusive pedagogies, or deepening your environmental advocacy, MDGs offer a flexible, meaningful way to connect, learn, and lead.

Why Member Directed Groups matter:

  • Faculty-defined focus: You choose the topic, shape the activities, and guide the direction—ensuring the group reflects your passions and priorities.
  • Cross-disciplinary connection: These groups break down silos, drawing together faculty from diverse departments to share perspectives and spark innovation.
  • MRFA-supported structure: With the backing of the Member Engagement Committee, approved groups gain visibility, access to logistical support, and the ability to request MRFA resources as needed, where appropriate.
  • Alignment with broader goals: Many Member Directed Groups support the MRFA’s broader equity, inclusion, and sustainability priorities, enriching the association’s collective impact and enhancing Members’ Opportunities to engage.
