Workplace Wellness Committee

The Mount Royal Faculty Association (MRFA) is dedicated to ensuring a work environment that fosters health, dignity, inclusion, resilience, and professional fulfillment. We understand that wellness is a dynamic process of maintaining and enhancing your physical, mental, emotional, and social well-being. Achieving true workplace wellness means advocating for accessible accommodations, safe and healthy workplaces, and equitable conditions that allow our Members to thrive both personally and professionally.

How the MRFA Supports Your Wellness

The MRFA Workplace Wellness Committee acts as a support body, resource developer, and advocate for structural improvements. Working in alignment with the Association’s broader role of protecting Members’ rights and interests, the committee provides several key avenues of support:

  • Responding to Concerns: The committee supports the MRFA’s Labour Relations Officer in receiving, reviewing, and responding to Member concerns related to workplace wellness.
  • Meeting Accompaniment: If you require accommodations or need to navigate other workplace wellness matters, trained committee members can provide accompaniment to these meetings.
  • Providing Resources: The committee develops guidelines and best practices to help Members effectively manage their workplace wellness.
  • Advocating for Change: The committee analyzes Member input to recommend best practices to the Collective Bargaining Caucus, specifically targeting systemic issues and organizational contributors to burnout.
  • Connecting with JOHSC: The committee liaises directly with MRFA representatives on the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee (JOHSC) to ensure broader safety mandates align with member wellness.

Scope of Support

While the Workplace Wellness Committee is an essential connector between Member experiences and appropriate MRFA processes, it operates with specific boundaries. Please note that the committee does not provide medical, psychological, or legal advice. Additionally, its functions do not replace the formal roles of the Grievance Committee, the Collective Bargaining Committee, or the Executive Board.
