In accordance with the MRFA’s Mediator Policy (2026 Pilot) the following information is provided for Members reference and support. The Association appreciates Leda Stawnychko taking on the role of Mediator for the Association and look forward to the report on this pilot project at the end of 2026.

MRFA Mediator: Leda Stawnychko

With over two decades of leadership experience across the public, private, and nonprofit sectors in Canada and internationally, Dr. Leda Stawnychko brings an evidence-informed, relational approach to mediation and conflict management. Her work focuses on psychological safety, ethical leadership, workplace incivility, and the dynamics of power and communication in higher education.

Dr. Stawnychko has over ten years of experience conducting mediations, both in private practice and through the Community Mediation Calgary Society, where she has worked with clients from diverse backgrounds, including individuals referred by the Calgary Police Service and the RCMP. Her mediation experience spans a wide range of contexts, including governance and board dynamics, workplace conflict, neighbourhood disputes, and families navigating periods of transition.

She holds professional designations as a mediator with the ADR Institute of Canada and the Alberta Family Mediation Society, and has served in governance and advisory roles with organizations such as the ADR Institute of Alberta and the Institute of Public Administration. At Mount Royal University, she is actively engaged in institutional governance and faculty development, serving as an ADC Mentor, ADC Affiliate, and the architect and intellectual lead of MRULeads, a faculty leadership program offered through the Office of the Provost.

Her extensive scholarly and public-facing writing on leadership, conflict, and organizational life is available on her Mount Royal University faculty profile and through outlets such as The Conversation Canada.
