Reassigned Time and Release Time

Process

You must refer to and fill out the appropriate RT Forms.
If you want to apply for reassigned time for major scholarly or artistic activity, you fill out RT Forms 102 and 103. Having an external reviewer fill out Form 104 as part of your application is optional.
If you want to apply for reassigned time for activities other than major scholarly or artistic activity, then you fill out RT Form 102 only.
Applications for List A activities - May 1st. Decisions made by May 31st.
Applications for List B activities - May 31st. Decisions made by June 15th.
Maximum reassigned time available from List A and/or List B is 96 scheduled instructional course hours per academic year (unless some of your reassigned time is funded "externally" - see the guidelines, RT Form 101).
This reassigned time mechanism is not intended for regular release time for Chairs.
There is to be transparency in this whole process. A summary report, recording the applications and the decisions rendered, is to be generated by College Admin., sent to the MRFA and distributed to all MRFA members.
Please send a copy of your application to the MRFA to give us more complete information.
Don't forget to attach a completed copy of the Annual Projected Teaching Load form (template attached).
We encourage all full-time faculty engaged in extra work to apply for reassigned time.

Release Time

Faculty may be eligible for release time for other work. This can include serving on the MRFA Executive, secondments to special projects and other reasons.


Release time for Executive postions

President 13.5 hrs from MRFA*, 13.5 hrs from BOG
1st Vice President 3 hours from MRFA
2nd Vice President 6.0 hrs. (3 VP2 / 3 Acad Ccl) from MRFA
Secretary/
Communications Coordinator
3 hours from BOG
Treasurer 3 hours from BOG
Part-Time Rep 3.0 hrs equiv. (stipend) from MRFA
Past President  
Board of Governors Representative  
Negotiating Committee Members 3 hrs or 3.0 hrs equiv. (stipend)/each from MRFA

8.8.4 Effective August 15th 2002, three (3) or four (4) hours, as appropriate, of the President's MRFA paid release time will be allocated to the Immediate Past President only for the Fall Semester to ensure and facilitate effective transitional support for the in-coming Executive Officers.
