Secretary's Report for May 2008 AGM

This year I worked on three things that you may find interesting:

1. Worked with the MRFA executive to improve the communications within the MRFA. This included:
   • Worked with Michael Hawley, Walter Bruno, and Alana Gleck to review the communication needs of the MRFA and established a plan to improve it.
   • Redesigned the mrfa.net to a Drupal based site, on a Canadian based host, that allows us to use several new and emerging Web 2.0 technologies. The site still needs more development but please sign up for a user account that will give you full access to the new features. 
   • We will be establishing a new standing communications committee that will work with the secretary to continue the work started on the website and improvements to the communications withing MRFA.
2. Represented the MRFA on the Rights, Responibilities & Respect Advisory Committee. The primary focus of the committee this year is the drafting of the new Personal Harassment Policy. This policy will be presented at Academic Council on May 22 for information and the Board of Governers on June 2 for approval.   The draft of the policy is attached below.
3. Represented the MRFA on the Strategic Information Technologies Planning Committee. The draft of the plan is attached below along with the proposed Governance model.

On a related note, did you know that MS Office 2007 will be deployed to all users over the next year?

• All new computers being installed now will have MS Office 2007 installed. Click here to access the ADC support page.
• All computer labs and classroom computers will be upgraded to MS Office 2007 for this Fall.
• You can request to be upgraded right now by contacting the ITS Helpdesk.
• You can purchase a copy of MS Office 207 for your home computer at the Bookstore for less than $20.
