Candidate's Campaign Statement

Karen Manarin, English

Since I started teaching in the English department in 1998, I have witnessed and worked towards remarkable changes at this institution. I have served as assistant to the chair of English, as faculty advisor, as coordinator of literature offerings and, more recently, as coordinator of the communications cluster in General Education. I helped to create the Bachelor of Arts proposal and worked on the General Education Standing Committee, responsible for rolling out the general education provision. I have worked with the Academic Scheduling committee. I also served on General Faculties Council. As a member of the Appointments, Promotion and Tenure Committee, I worked on institution-wide criteria for scholarship, teaching and service. Part of this work involved comparing the collective agreements of institutions from across the country. Over the years, I have learned much about Mount Royal; I want to learn more. I work hard and have an eye for detail. I would like to be your Vice-President, Negotiations.
